Isola d'Elba
| The Island of Elba is the largest of the Tuscan archipelago and Italy's 3rd largest (223 km²). It is located at about 20Km from the coast. Elba is part of the National Park of the Tuscan archipelago together with Pianosa, Capraia, Montecristo, Giglio and Giannutri. The island is divided into eight municipalities, all referring to the province of Livorno. The largest one is Portoferraio; the others are Campo nell'Elba, Capoliveri, Marciana, Marciana Marina, Porto Azzurro, Rio Marina and Rio nell'Elba. There stands a magnificent villa where Napoleon Bonaparte lived during his exile. The soil of the island is very rich in minerals. |
